History

Tucana Technologies™ was founded in 2002 to market an enterprise grade; standards based semantic database and knowledge discovery platform. The company was an active member of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) and made deliberate efforts to align the research and standards being developed by the W3C with the ongoing development of the Tucana Knowledge Discovery Suite.

The first commercial version of the Tucana Knowledge Discovery Suite shipped in May of 2003. The company immediately experienced a "must have" reaction from the market. The Tucana Knowledge Discovery Suite is a critical part of the core infrastructure that enables an organization's enterprise information integration (EII) strategy.

In July 2005, Northrop Grumman Corp. (NYSE: NOC) purchased the rights to proprietary software developed by Tucana Technologies, and will market these technologies to government and commercial users seeking more efficient methods of sharing business data. Northrop Grumman's C4ISR and Space Sensors Division is a leader in producing ISR robust software architectures and data management systems for military command and control applications. The division is a part of the company's Baltimore-based Electronic Systems sector, a world leader in the design, development and manufacture of defense and commercial electronic systems and sensors, including airborne radar, navigation systems, electronic countermeasures, precision weapons, airspace management systems, communications systems, space sensors, marine and naval systems, government systems and logistics services.
